Jamming to an interactive beat

February 22, 2008 3:55 AM PST

Share is a site for musicians interested in participating in open digital-audio-video jam sessions.

Share's weekly session in New York, for example, takes place every Sunday (7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern time) at the Reboot bar and restaurant shown here.

According to the site's faq page for New York, "Participants bring their portable equipment, plug into our system, improvise on each others' signal and perform live audio and video. Our volunteer organizers furnish the amplification and projection."

Share groups also meet on a regular basis in other major cities, including San Diego, Los Angeles, Boston, Montreal, Berlin, Melbourne, Australia, Zurich, Switzerland, Budapest, Hungary, and St. Petersburg, Russia.
