At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on Monday, a select few attendees got an up-close look at prototype phones using Google's Android software.

Although the mocked-up handsets were similar to BlackBerry-like smartphones in that they have a full QWERTY keyboard, the ARM9 processor technology in the prototypes is actually used on lower-end, mass-market handsets, meaning that the functionality being demonstrated could be added to most phones sold today.
