Photos: When good airplanes go bad

American Airlines has parked many of its MD-80s at the Roswell International Air Center in Roswell, N.M. The planes there, which may or may not ever go back into service, are aircraft the airline took out of service for any number of reasons. They are often missing tail fins or engines or other parts. Those planes are unrelated to the recent flight cancellations.
