Small wind from Japan. Zephyr was one of many companies displaying wind turbines at WIREC. Wind power is growing rapidly, most of it coming from farms of huge turbines.
In Japan, Zephyr's small wind turbines are used atop private houses, as well as commercial and local-government buildings.
A 1-kilowatt turbine that could be placed on the top of a high-rise building needs to have a mounting at least 3.5 meters high. For ground-mounted installations, the turbine should be 9 meters off the ground.
