Extreme sports fanatics now have an easy-to-use camera that attaches directly to their helmets for recording their latest escapades. Like other compact video cameras such as the Flip Video or RCA's SmallWonder, the VHoldr offers an easy way to take video and upload it with no hassles directly to YouTube or some other Web-based video publisher. But the real differentiator is that the VHoldr is designed for hands-free operation. It's also ruggedized and weatherproof, making it ideal for sports enthusiasts racing down a snow-covered ski slope or hopping onto railings while riding a skateboard.
The camera is also designed for easy use. It has a single on/off button, and video is loaded to a PC via a USB cable. The VHoldr software then allows users to edit and upload footage to VHolder.com, the video-hosting site for users, or YouTube. The camera, which costs $350, will be available in December through 400 retailers. While not yet on store shelves, it was also shown to journalists at the TechCrunch 40 conference in September.
