Microsoft went gunning for Google this week. The company's general counsel made the case in a keynote speech to the Association of American Publishers that Google posed a threat to their business. Charles Cooper and Declan McCullagh speak with the association's No. 2 executive about the question of copyright and the protection of authors and publishers in the digital age.
Also, this was the week when the U.S. government's Inspector General found that the FBI had abused the provisions of the already controversial Patriot Act to secretly obtain telephone, e-mail and financial records.
