Apple iPod Touch or something else entirely?
Would you rather have this iPod Touch or something better?
(Credit: Ina Fried/CNET News.com)Today Apple refreshed its iPod lineup, introducing four iPod options in the process. For roughly $400 you can buy a 16GB iPod Touch with Internet capability, a 160GB iPod Classic or a combo of iPod Shuffles and Nanos.
But you could also splurge on something else entirely.
Overheard here at CNET, ideas include:
• 100 dozen doughnuts.
• One-way plane ticket to Paris.
• Hire a dog walker.
• The Beatles albums on vinyl.
• Garmin eTrex Vista HCx GPS receiver, plus a high-capacity microSD card.
• A newly cheaper iPhone.
• An external hard drive with more space to store music so I could switch out songs on my smaller, cheaper music player.
Of course, as a friend points out, all those doughnuts would require a lot of exercise. For your exercising, you might want an iPod. And the long trip to the City of Light might also be boring without an iPod to use on the plane.
So, what would you do with $400? Would you buy an iPod or something else entirely? And if so, what?

Although I have to admit that the iPod touch looked really appealing, so perhaps the shoes and pedals will have to wait....
I'm so happy and excited to see this ipod touch come out because there's no way my parents would change their cellular phone service provider, buy me a new 600 dollar phone, AND pay 60+ bucks a month for an iphone.
I think i would buy it even if there wasn't the wi-fi thing, but that just makes me even more envious to get it, It kind of sucks that it doesn't come with a camera like the I-phone though but I'll live. I was already planning on purchasing a 5.5 generation ipod video that was 30 gigs for 250 bucks, and imagine that, now they come out with the 80 gigs and more features for the same exact price! which makes me feel good for not rushing to buy the ipod video I wanted. I only have about 7-8 gigabytes of music and I don't have or watch many movies or other video so 30 gigs would probably be way too much for me, not to mention 80 gigs, so the 16 gigabyte capacity of the ipod touch will be just perfect for my small but expanding music collection and maybe a few hundred pictures too.
The touch screen and the internet browser were the real catchers for me but after watching the video on apple.com there are a lot of other features that makes me itching to get one of these. It would be really nice if they came out with a slightly more expensive version (+50 bucks or so) with a camera though.
I have a birthday comming up in November which would be the perfect time to purchase this cool looking device, but if I can hold my horsie's I'll probably wait till after Christmas to see if they'll trim off a hundred dollars or so off of the premiere price like they did with the iphone.
But YES I would and will buy it!, CANT WAIT! I wouldn't recommend it to people who want a mainly pvp device and watch insane amounts of video on the go or have an over 15 gig music collection because as they may already know, 16 gigabytes probably wouldn't be enough for them.
