I think RIM should be very concerned.

Let's face it the chances of RIM coming up with anything that
could compete with the iPhone is slim. There current line of
phones are basically archaic compared to the iPhone- their only
saving grace is their push e-mail.

AT&T just announced a business plan for the iPhone and Apple
has just added more features which make the iPhone even more
of threat to existing smartphone manufacturers and further differentiates the iPhone to the point that you'd might as well
call the competitors dumb phones.

To boot, Apple's planning on issuing a SDK late next month and
to make matters worse for all the competitors, they're launching
the MacBook Air literally this week.

Why is this so bad? Well the MacBook Air will have a high appeal
factor to women due to its light weight and many of these
women own iPODs and I think we're going to see a lot of women
over the coming months buy both MacBook Airs and iPhones.

What will this do to RIM. First it will arrest their growth in the
consumer market; then in the small business market; then the
stock will tank just like Palms and RIM will find itself with a loyal
business base only.
