The Wii's intuitive controller has been heralded as one of the reasons behind the success of Nintendo's Wii console. But Electronic Arts has decided that the control system might be too complex for some, and has unveiled a "Family Play" system.

Wii versions of upcoming titles Madden NFL 08, NBA Live 08 and FIFA 08 will let players choose between two play modes: Advanced or Family. Advanced will give gamers complete control over all aspects of play, whereas Family mode will just allow gamers to control key actions, such as shooting, passing, snapping and throwing.

Advanced Play will utilize both the Wii remote and the Nunchuk controllers, while Family Play uses just the Wii remote. "It's like having an invisible helper on your team," EA said in a statement.

Emma Boyes reported for GameSpot UK.

So, EA thinks its customers are too dumb to be able to figure out how to use both controllers at once?

EA understands that their are people out there who do not want to micromanage every aspect of a game. Take football for instance, some people just want to play the game and not manage each and every person on a team. I feel that many games have become so complex that the fun in them simply is not there anymore.
Come on!

My Mom who can't even use a computer was able to use my Wii.If she can do it I think any one can.Plus if someone wanted to push buttons I think they would buy an Xbox 360 or a PS3.

I have to say I am tired of EA acting like we are all such babies that we need our hands held while playing a game.
I am an adult and I do like the games I buy made with adults in mind NOT so dumbed down that a toddeler could beat the game.
This time they at least are just offering an additional super easy-you can be a blind hamster and still win the game mode and not just making the whole game that easy, but you know what "I AM STILL OFFENDED!"
Keep your games and your broken thinking behind them,I will look and SPEND my money else where on games that cater to ME - an adult that wants an adult game.
Put a kids mode into a kids game!!
