EA to localize games in Asian languages

Electronic Arts plans to set up a studio in Singapore to localize its popular gaming titles in five Asian languages. In addition, the center will work on an online game development facility. A team of about 20 developers from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Holland will work out of the studio, to be headed by Irene Chua, currently vice president of EA's Asian operations, said. Chris Thompson, vice president of EA's Southeast Asia operations, will also be based in Singapore to oversee the company's publishing business.

"We are excited to build a team that will customize and localize EA's games for the pan-Asian market," Jon Niermann, president of EA Asia Publishing, said in a statement. "Singapore offers everything we need to build a world class creative organization."
