Who bought $168MM worth of betacam tapes?

Seriously... There's enough corporate misbehavior that affects common consumers that you'd think they have something better to do.

Why Aren't The MPAA and RIAA Considered Cartels?
by sismoc November 20, 2007 11:06 AM PST
Both organizations act like illegal cartels.
Both organizations conspire to keep prices high.
Both organizations conspire to squelch competition.

Apply the RICO act and put them out of business.

I believe it would be the studios that own and operate the RIAA and MPAA. As for RICO, people have sued the RIAA under RICO and for malicious prosecution. To my knowledge those suits are either pending or have been dismissed. Arstechnica did some nice coverage by suing the RIAA and MPAA under RICO is hard. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070506-riaa-extortion-why-the-only-rico-they-fear-is-suave.html
Good Question!

I've often wondered that myself. I'm guessing the only reason is that the record/movie studios cover their tracks well enough to avoid RICO prosecution. AND... I know that some record companies have been successfully prosecuted for "payola" actions in the past. But it didn't put them out of business.

How much trouble has the main supporters of HD DVD been in these last few years? In fact, hasn't the EU been all over Microsoft over the last year for antitrust issues, which are every bit as serious as price fixing, if not worse?

There's plenty of allegations to go around.
Gotta love EU's Balls
by RompStar_420 November 20, 2007 12:11 PM PST
EU is the only group that has the balls to stand up to LArge Corporations that do this like Microsoft and others, yes SONY too and tell them, halt!!!! You pay us money or you out of the market, just like that :- ) lol

Blueray seems fine to a consumer like me, but MS is bending arms of a lot of Hollywood interest as they back the HD_DVD, so it's the same thing.

The U.S. don't have balls to punish for the lack of ethics, even tho in every College in the US they teach young mind that ethics are important.

As soon as they leave college and enter the rat race, ethic are thown out the window, welcome to the WildWild West.

To those that don't know, the word government = to govern the poor. Read your US history :- ) which is very young.
