Microsoft does ad deal with CNBC

Microsoft and CNBC announced on Monday an advertising partnership that will greatly expand the audience for Microsoft-served online ads.

Microsoft, which partners with NBC Universal on the MSNBC news and entertainment Web site, also has advertising deals with Digg and Facebook.

Under the CNBC deal, Microsoft will be the exclusive third-party provider of display and contextual advertising for CNBC.com, which has more than 2.6 million unique monthly visitors.

"Inventory from the two sites (CNBC and Microsoft) will get aggregated together into a larger network for advertisers," said Jon Tinter, general manager of online strategy and business development at Microsoft.

Contextual ads will start appearing later this month, and display ads are expected to be showing on the site in March.

The companies would not discuss the financial terms except to say that they will share ad revenue.

I use a css style sheet to eliminate all the blinking, flashing, online distractions. I rarely see an ad on a website. And none on cnbc.com http://code.google.com/p/adsubtract/

WOW! Nobody saw THAT one coming...DUH! MSNBC & now MS + CNBC Online ad joint venture. MAN! That took some brain power to put that deal together...(not). Microsith will eventually "aquire" NBC UNIVERSAL & GE conglomerate to become the great & powerful mega-monopoly destined for world domination... (Software/Media/Energy Monopoly all in one) This is how the Matrix started.
