eBay announced Thursday it acquired a minority stake in GittiGidiyor.com, an online marketplace in Turkey. The e-commerce site has more than 400,000 listings and has a format similar to eBay's.
The region has more than 17 million Internet users, representing a quarter of the country's total population. Turkey is the 37th local market that eBay has entered with its online auction service.
